100 Words or Less – Black Knight (2001) Review

100-words-or-less

Title – Black Knight

 Released – 2001

Director – Gil Junger

Starring – Martin Lawrence, Tom Wilkinson, Marsha Thomason

Review – Slacker theme park worker Jamal falls into a moat and wakes up in the 1300’s. A series of misunderstandings result with him ending up in the middle of a war between the tyrannical king and the kindly and fair dethroned Queen. The performances are nothing special but Lawrence generates a lot of laughs through his fish-out-of-water shtick and constant mugging to the camera. There is some good slapstick, a whole lot of close-ups and an energetic dance scene which is so ridiculous in the best way. Far from a good film, but a shame it isn’t more of a cult classic.
