100 Words or Less – Duel

100 Words or less

Title – Duel

Released – 1971

Director – Steven Spielberg

Starring – Dennis Weaver

Review – The first ‘real’ film of Spielberg’s career, Duel is a great little movie. There’s not much to it, it’s only 90 minutes long and the plot could fit on a postage stamp; an evil trucker torments a man along a remote American road, but it works. Dennis Weaver’s great as the Plymouth driving every man and Spielberg’s direction is as clear and creative as it’s ever been right down to the trademark mirror shots, famously later used in Jurassic Park. Tense, unnerving and often brilliant Duel is a great film, and a must watch for Spielberg fans and thriller fans alike.
