Title – Insomnia
Released – 2002
Director – Christopher Nolan
Starring – Al Pacino, Robin Williams, Hilary Swank
Review – Christopher Nolan’s follow up to his brilliant first film Memento is perhaps his best ever. Unlike most Nolan films there’s no gimmick to Insomnia, and at first it seems like a standard police procedural. But things soon go wrong for city cop Pacino as he accidentally kills his partner while chasing a child killer through the Alaskan fog. The film opens up from there, showcasing Al Pacino’s awesome acting talent, and showing that the late great Robin Williams could play the psychopath as well as the funny man. Wally Pfister’s cinematography is also particularly good, making Insomnia a must watch.
