The Walking Dead – ‘Squeeze’ Review

The Walking Dead is back! After a strong couple of seasons, the show returns with aplomb and delivers an episode that’s terrifying in a number of different ways. Picking up with the gang stuck in a cave system, surrounded by Alpha’s horde, they begin the difficult journey out. And as they slip and scurry through holes in the rocks, the episode title, Squeeze, begins making sense.

Doctor Who – “Ascension of The Cybermen” Review

The penultimate episode of season 12 of Doctor Who may have somehow left us with more questions than answers as we hurtle into next weeks finale, but it was a fantastic episode all the same.

Whether the writing team can stick the landing next week with all of these questions up in the air is something we’ll have to wait for but ‘Ascension of The Cybermen’ was a clever and thrilling episode of TV.

What I’m Reading – ‘Batman and Robin Vol. 1: Batman Reborn’ by Grant Morrison

Batman is dead! Or so everybody thinks. He’s actually been sent back in time through a complicated series of events involving Darkseid, omega beams, radion bullets – but as far as anyone in Gotham knows, he’s dead. After a brief battle for the cowl, Dick Grayson is the new Batman. And Damian Wayne is the new Robin. It’s up to this oddball pair to restore order to Gotham. And with it being Grant Morrison, things are going to get weird.

Doctor Who – ‘Can You Hear Me?’ Review

Team TARDIS are split up this week, as The Doc drops off the group for a return trip to Sheffield. And this episode has what you’ve come to expect from Doctor Who; science fiction nonsense, spectacle, aliens and monsters (some of the best we’ve had in a while too). But it’s far more concerned with the well-being of the companions, something the show all too rarely touches upon. And we discover that when these guys aren’t battling intergalactic threats, they’re fighting their own demons back home.
