Review – The Mechanic is much better than it has any right to be. What might seems like a dumb Jason Statham vehicle is actually…well it’s still pretty dumb but it’s a very well-made dumb action film, thanks to two great central performances from the man himself and the underrated Ben Foster, playing characters you actually care about. Directed with style and skill by Simon West, a man with weighty action movie credentials (Con Air, The Expendables 2), the film clocks in at a satisfying 93 minutes and nothing feels tacked on or superfluous. A throwback in all of the best ways.
