Title – Edge of Tomorrow (or ‘Live Die Repeat’ I can’t keep track)
Released – 2014
Director – Doug Liman
Starring – Tom Cruise, Emily Blunt, Bill Paxton
Review – Edge of Tomorrow captures the feeling of playing video games, you fail, die and respawn. It probably speaks to a certain group of people, and it is excellent. Tom Cruise goes against type (at first) playing a soldier without any combat experience, media spin being his thing. Watching him dying in the worst and often funniest ways is one of the movies biggest charms. It’s cleverer than any other blockbuster you’re likely to see, the action is clear and original and the ‘gimmick’ is balanced beautifully, never returning to the past too often of for too long. Also, Emily Blunt is badass!
