100 Words or Less – Safe

100 Words or less

Title – Safe

Released – 2012

Director – Boaz Yakin

Starring – Jason Statham, Catherine Chan, Chris Sarandon

Review – Jason Statham goes up against the Russian mafia, Triads and dirty cops in order to save a super clever little girl, Mei, in this surprisingly good action thriller. Full of awesome shootouts and some really brutal fistfights, Safe reminds us that Statham is to us what Stallone and Schwarzenegger was to the 1980’s and 1990’s.  The plot gets lost about halfway through but seeing Statham throw himself at gangster after gangster means you probably won’t notice. The relationship between Statham and Mei could have been sappy but is handled well. A great performance (if odd accent) by Staham and a very high body count.
