100 Words or Less – Event Horizon

100 Words or less

Title – Event Horizon

Released – 1997

Director – Paul W.S. Anderson

Starring – Laurence Fishburne, Sam Neill, Joely Richardson, Jason Issacs

Review – After a special ship, the Event Horizon, goes missing a group of diverse characters are sent to find out what happened. Event Horizon has a really interesting Sci-Fi/Lovecraftian horror theme throughout, making it feel very unique. That’s not to say the film is ‘good’ though, far from it; Event Horizon is often so-bad-it’s-good. The acting goes from wooden to hammy to odd in a matter of minutes, and the over the top gore eventually becomes hilarious. But this helps, and along with the awesome set design and Lovecraftian themes, Event Horizon becomes a brilliantly terrible, unique film. A must watch.
