Review –  Hardwired is a cheap sci-fi film with clever ideas and a sprinkle of low-grade cyberpunk. Gooding Jr.’s Luke Gibson wakes from a coma following an accident to find he’s been implanted with a microchip. With no insurance, he’s saddled with intrusive ads popping up in his field of vision. Worse, he has no memory of his past , including his recently deceased wife. With a bonkers Val Kilmer performance, a surprisingly affecting Michael Ironside, and a red-headed Tatiana Maslany, the film makes the most of its 90 minutes – and it’s unsubtle critique of US capitalism is a welcome addition.
